Infants: Your baby will be brought back to you and you will have time to establish a proper latch and position on breast or bottle with our IBCLC. You will be taught how to care for your baby’s wounds. we will watch you perform stretches to ensure you feel confident. 4-5 hours post-op your infant may experience fussiness and discomfort. Typically the older the baby, the more discomfort they will feel. Plan for an easy first 2 days with your infant so you can spend time feeding with lots of skin-to-skin and snuggles. Sometimes you experience immediate improvements, but know this is a journey and healing takes time so give yourself and your infant a lot of grace as he/she learns how to use unrestricted oral tissues.
Instructions
Children: You will be given written post-op instructions to guide you in the first week. There are no restrictions on eating for our older children though they may prefer colder, softer foods for the first few days. Usually no more than 2-3 days of IBUProfen or Tylenol in needed.
